There is a hex head bolt in the sleeve and it's tight. Thanks for the reply and sorry for the hijack.

We tested the car last Monday at Buttonwillow.

All of the changes we made to version 2.0 seem to have have paid off with positive test results.  The car handled great and ran really well.

Here are a few shots of the car in action.

Sweet Jesus.

What fenders are you running? They are obviously way wider than the M fenders. Did you weld them, fiberglass,...?

Those are DTM Fiberwerks fenders (EuroStop).  Call Ary he can set you up with that kit.  It's fiberglass and it is a little wider than the E30 M3.  The fronts are bolted on the rears are riveted and molded in.  We left the seam in the rear since its a race car but for a street car you could mold the entire fender in.

Not sure if you saw Ary's car (the guy who runs DTM Fiberwerks and sells these kits).  His show car uses this kit and has it fully molded in.   It looks awesome.

We are considered a second car which would be an E36 M42 turbo powered.

Here is some in car camera footage from 12/21 test at Buttonwillow.  Check out the camera positioning.

Fantastic car. I'm curious as to how your Getrag 240 is holding up. I've read a lot about how it's weaker than the Getrag 260. Have you blown any gears since putting the 240 back?

We only have one test day with that transmission in the car besides driving it around the block and on and off the trailer a few times.

We went with the 240 to get the engine moved back in the engine bay where BMW put the engine when it came from the factory.  We moved it up a little with the 260 trans and drive shaft.  That was a temporary configuration that we ran for about a year.

We keep spares in the trailer if we run into problems.  We could almost build a whole E30 from the spares we take to the track.

Stock rods, custom pistons, stock head (just rebuilt with valve job).

Let me get this straight, with all of this stock do you guys still have the 10:1 compression ratio??

no, custom pistons could lower the CR quite a bit. Earlier in the thread, someone said the CR was 8.5:1.

I noticed that you guys made it back into the January 2010 issue of Performance BMW again. Bottom 1/3rd of page 24.

No major coverage, just a shot of the new and old livery and the "thank you" letter from E30PQ.

Thanks for letting me know.

I couldn't find the new issue where I usually get it (they were out).

I got mine at Borders if that helps at all. Or I can send you mine when I'm done with it.
