we may have found the source of the leak!!... the rear timing case gasket...

couple gallons of brake cleaner...

Going to pick up a harbor freight parts cleaner later today, they are on sale for almost 50% off!!...

also grabbed a few random sockets that weren't on hand...

old clutch

and the new

the old clutch didn't look to bad, however the pivot pin was COMPLETELY jacked, basically worn away. So a new pivot pin, and release arm are on the way.

i don't know if you can see what was left from the pin in this picture or not...

got the block cleaned up

during the cleaning

after the cleaning

Head gasket on the head

Getting ready to put the oil filter housing on.

cleaning some other parts, intake and the thermostat housing.

Head on the block

Rear timing case gasket

And with the rear timing case on.

Right now the head is just sitting on the block, the head bolts aren't torqued in yet, still waiting for the cam gears, and timing chain stuff. Once all that stuff comes in that phase of the assembly will continue. Both cam gears, crank gear, all the plastic guides as well as a the chain will be new.

You should probably replace those cam sprockets while you're at it because they look rather worn!

Day after Labor day delivery

9 boxes shown here, there was another that was delivered after the photo was taken....

and the opening of all the new stuff begins!

Suspension..

Brakes

Trunk spoiler, front lip, timing chain and kidneys..

the rest of the stuff for the clutch, and even more hoses.

And some more parts!!!

eventually my buddy will get is garage back... i dont think there will be many more days like today with this much arriving at one time.. Getbmwparts had 4 of our orders on back order, and i guess everything came in from Germany at about the same time?
