I finally got it cleared. I stomped the piss out of it all ways possible last night after disconnecting the battery. I did it again this morning and FINALLY got the 1444 code. I guess I wasn't holding my mouth right (most likely because it was full of beer) :)

I replaced the blower motor in my e30 and whilenI had the firewall covers off I cleaned the icv. Put it all back together and started it up fine. Idled for a few minutes then it threw a check engine light and would still idle but if I revved the engine it would die upon return to idle rpm. Turns out I had a cracked hose that I knocked loose that runs from the intake down to that connector under intake that I believe runs over to the icv. I fixed hose with electrical tape temporarily, restarted and it runs fine. Took it for a drive and all is well. Did stomp test and got the 1262 for icv still. That is the only code. I can't make the cel go away. Tried all the stomp stuff like holding down for 10 or 15 seconds. The cel just cycles through the same code over and over. One time, it got to the point where it went to a short blink followed by a longer blink and I thought I had cleared it.

Everything should be good with the car now, but how in the hell do I clear the light!!!!  Frustrating!!

Thanks!!
Tom

General Topics / Forgot how much I love my e30
« on: February 27, 2015, 09:52:19 AM »
Since it has been winter, and I washed/waxed the car before it got cold, I haven't been driving my 318is.   Combine that with plans to remove my metal front valance (possum damage - like hitting a dog just about), and somebody accidentally unplugging my battery tender, and a fuel line leak next to the filter, and you can see why I haven't driven it.  I fixed the fuel leak, charged the battery, and drove it to work today.  I forgot how much I love this car.  It is so analog, so enjoyable to drive, so mechanically simple, so pure, compared to today's cars.  I have thought about selling the car (it is in fantastic condition), to pay off some remaining debt, but when I drive it, I just don't know if I could do it!!  Just thought I'd drop a line here to say how much I missed my car, and would miss it if it were gone.

Thanks,
tom

Exterior / Front UPPER Valence - Post Face lift

I hit a possum a while back and bent the everliving crap out of my metal valance, tore off the lip, etc.  Finally looking to replace it.  USED OEM on ebay are kinda pricey.  Can't find any in yards close to me.  Was looking at getting one from Schmiedmann maybe (is aftermarket).  Anybody have any experience with them or their panels?

http://www.schmiedmann.com/en/product/6359-new?product=41331961227U

Looks like I could get OEM for around $300 or so.

ZHP looks smaller.....I didn't even know they had that one.  Probably would have liked it better.  Their shipping is so much, don't know if wanna swap it out.

apparently my notifications are messed up - never saw any of these!   It is the leather stock knob from BAV Auto.

What is difference in that and the ZHP?

I told my wife I wanted a new shift knob for my 91 318is (mine literally popped off in my hand one day shifting to 2nd).   I wanted the STANDARD shift knob, but she either ordered incorrectly or they shipped incorrectly the M SPORT shift knob with the M on it.  My car is not an M car and I don't think it appropriate to go slathering it with M logos everywhere.  What do yall think?  Is an M Sport shift knob poserific or should I just keep it as an homage to M cars?

Cool.  Yeah, my wife doesn't like the red either, but I kinda like it.  If you change your mind for whatever reason, let me know.

For Sale / Reluctantly Thinking About Selling 1991 318is :( - Hernando, MS
« on: September 19, 2013, 05:47:06 PM »
I have reluctantly been considering selling my 1991 318is.  Bought it from 2nd owner who had since 1994 when someone traded it in.  Have all service records.  It has been babied.  Originally cloth but had katskin leather installed.  No cracks on dash, near perfect interior.  All the usual maintenance items have been taken care of when needed.  Is tastefully lowered on bilsteins nad has a shock tower brace.  Stock engine.  No dents and only a couple of very, very minor dings.  Paint is original or nearly original.  I say that because at some point in its first three years of life (prior to 2nd owner getting car) it had the passenger door and front fender replaced, so I assume the whole car was resprayed at that time by a competent body shop.  The paint is excellent for a 22 year old car, and you can tell if it was repainted it was done a long time ago to factory specs.  I also have some 15" euroweaves that I have not placed on the car yet, but I just had them powdercoated in Bengal Silver.  they are flippin sweet!  AC works great.  I have original stereo, but currently there is a bluetooth head unit in the car with matching orange lighting.  The car is just about perfect, save for some clear starting to peel along the front of hood, and the urethane lip is fading.

THE ONLY REASON, I am even thinking of selling is because I just bought a foreclosure on the courthouse steps this week.....I had a verbal agreement on the sale of my current house, and then that fell through.  So I am now neck deep in a big wad of debt, and am just looking to liquidate this car (POSSIBLY) to have cash on hand for repairs until my loan is restructured.

The kicker is that I am not giving it away.  I would want $8000 for it at least, with the Euroweaves.  Less if you don't want the wheels.

It is seriously a good find, and a great car and it saddens me to even think about getting rid of it.  I was hoping to give it to my kids.  I may not be able to part with it, but just wanted to throw it out there just in case...

Engine + Driveline / Re: dasc kit ebay
« on: May 07, 2013, 10:57:58 AM »
I just saw this this morning.
Anybody know how much work this is?  I know I'd have to either convert to serpentine, or have a custom pulley made (would probably go that route).

what all else is needed on a 1991 318is to install this?  Would DASC help me at all??

General Topics / supercharger questions - all the same?

Is the downing atlanta kit for the 1.9 Z3 the same kit other than the different intake boot?  Will it fit our 91 M42 engines if we convert it to vbelt?  What other differences are there?

Thanks,
Tom
