spent an afternoon replacing all shift linkages and blown clutch master-cylinder, so wile i was under there i figured I'll do the box oil also.

problem being the big 17mm inverse hex nut / allen bolt wont budge!!

any ideas how to get the thing to move??

vice grips work well, get someone extra to push on those while you work with the ratchet.

When my ratchet handle alone doesn't allow enough leverage, I have a galvanized pipe maybe 2 ft. long and large enough in diameter to slide over the ratchet handle. Leverage = Good. Let physics work for you!

If my 2 ft. pipe doesn't do it, I have 5 ft. barbell handle that I can secure onto a breaker bar. That has never failed me.

Penetrating lube and leverage are your friend. I think I used a 17mm nut I had laying around, stuck it in a shallow socket and just used a 1.5ft breaker. It came out fine for me, but if it did give me trouble I would have broken out the 3ft breaker bar and some penetrating lube, always does the trick.
