I have a 1993 318i and i hear ticking at higher rpm's but really faint at idle... OK first things first ... im a chevy guy i have worked on chevys all my life till now.. i got this car and it runs good just the noise is killing me.. I know the noise is coming from the valve cover and i took it off and to adjust the valves... but there was no way to adjust them.. (not like old chevy motors)... im thinking its the lifters but there is this black shroud that covers the rockers and lifters and cam... i wonder if maybe that is hitting a rocker and making that noise??? i was going to just take it out but didnt know if i should ..i think that it makes the oil spill on the cam and lubes it??? i also tryed some of that thick ass oil thats like for motors to stop smokeing and makeing noise but didnt do anything...( and no it wasnt smokeing befor that eather). any one have any good ideas or dose it turn out that im going to have to chase down the noise peace at a time???thanks joe
