I have done some more work. A Standard E36 sump in a car with a standard firewall and a standard cross member won't work! I have sectioned 32mm out of my E36 sump, And have hammered in the firewall about 15mm. The engine is moving back 100mm. I have also rotated it clockwise some.
Plenty of room for a radiator and intercooler out here. The RHS has a socket welded to it, thus locating the front of the crank.

Firewall Clearence, Planning to do similar on the Race car but will go further across the firewall (width of the head)

You can see how much we have rotated the engine by looking at what was a vertical oil filter housing. This will be going in the trash anyway, not to worry.

I haven't taken a shot but there is a shite load of room down the side of the block now. Plenty for the turbo and dump pipe.
Here is a standard sump:

Plan is to cut the blue and yellow pieces out:

The yellow part is then moved backwards (top the left of the picture) And the void in front will be filled with material from my cracked E30 M42 lower sump (same material). The front is going to need a bit of clearencing work (over the cross member and steering rack) because the engine has been rotated. I also need to raise the engine a bit but am waiting on a spare gearbox to check the transmission tunnel clearences.
The sway bar will also be relocated around the front. Not for the faint hearted, but for me I think is worth every little bit of advantage. Everything is moving back, the engine, the oil in the sump, the radiator and all the cooling fluid the intercooler and all the piping. If the car doesn't maintain similar balance to that of a standard 318iS I will be surprised
