Again, wasnt looking to cause a problem with anyone, sorry if it was taken badly by anyone. CAnt say it wont happen again, cause I joke a lot, but Ill try to make it more blatant. :D
It\'s not paranoia if they really are out to get you.

A guy in New Zealand is selling a bunch of S42 parts (or he was a couple of months ago). If anybody is interested I can dig the info back up.

yes, i already know.. but the parts are from an early s42 engine.. it was pretty much the same as our m42 parts...!! i am more interested in the latest s42 parts .... year 94-96 or so...:D that are the real nasty parts for quys like us...!!!!

nice to hear that you probably found a bmw source "near" your home. i probably know where to get s42 cranks.... but they are freaking expensive... around +2500.-$ a piece! whole engine between 16000.-$ and +45000.-$ depends on the evo steps.. and if rebuild or not.. the engine of the car, where i have the pics, need a rebuild every ~1000km for thousands of swissfrancs... thats the reason why the owner dont race that much....
Well its close enough, only a two hour blast up the motorway :)
I was talking to him today and apparently he can do different evolutionary steps between the m42 and the s42.
Obviously the further your go towarsd the s42 the less road worthy it becomes.

SO i might aim somewhere in the middle....
Im aiming for the e36 equivalent to the e30 m3's s14 engine..that is my new goal!!

if i had time enough.. i would go there everyday..  it would not be the second trip my friend, it would be the 4th..., i still need some pics of the cams, valves, camcarriers and the whole car lifted up... oilcatchtank around the gearbox etc...
but at the moment i have NO TIME but i promise that i go as soon as possible.... to take some  pics!!!
4TH TRIP!?!?....thats dedication man :) :)
Il post up anything that i can think of for you to take photos of, whenever you go of course :)
Oh btw: i found out that the dry sump tank isnt 'AROUND' the gearbox, its part of it.

Beegeezy- thanks for clearing that up man, more blatant jokes in future :):)

Colin- if you could get info that would be brilliant.
Any info is good for the s42. especially the early stuff which is closer to the m42!

DAMN VULTURES :):):):)

Ive spent this evening reading up on the pros and cons of double injectors.
Seems like a good idea to have one small set for low rpm/velocity use, and then a second set to kick in at a certain duty cycle/rpm to provide fueling better suited to high rpm use.....also the smaller injectors will make tuning idle allot easier.... all most the best of both worlds.

anybody have experience/info/thoughts with double injection?

Other than slightly added complexity, and a miniscule amount of weight, I don't really see many cons to double injectors.  I'm pretty sure that with two smaller injectors per port, you can get more accurate fuel metering and better fuel atomization, which would be helpful improvements for engine dynamics.

I don't even think you need to stage the injector usages because the improvements from twice the injectors, alone, helps through out the entire RPM range.  Also it's not like the S42 was even intended for idling smoothly or using the first half of it's RPM range.:p

Swiss: I would definitely be interested in fuel pressure, flow rates of the injectors and any more pics of the intake and throttle body assembly.  You are awesome by the way for taking the effort to get all the nice high res. pictures and post them up.

Injectors on my dads trackday S14B25 M3 engine.

I remember what it was like before he had the airbox w/injector set up. They make a huuuge difference. The airbox alone proved yield an extra 25bhp, so the injectors must yield maybe half that, atleast. Ill most definately be looking into this for my own M42/44 stroker engine setup  .

Nice picture!

I would love to make a carbon fiber intake plenum/airbox for the M42.  Been reading up on making stuff from carbon fiber and recently bough a vacuum pump for vacuum bagging parts.  I wish tim_s would respond to my PM's about how he made his fiberglass intake so I would have a good starting point.

I would definately be down for a fiberglass version, maybe carbon fiber if it is not too expensive.  There seems to be pretty high demand for these but it is hard to find them.

no, crankshaft damper?? what do you think would happen if i remove that on my engine?? destruction?? i am planning to machine some small pulleys out of aluminum to reduce the drag on the crank and gain 1-2-3-4-5...??? hp's!!!

interesting flywheel...
