today for example i started to grind, an cut off every unnecessary corner out of the intakemanifold and the throttle housing. 500+gramms at the end. this engines are so heavy and build for the eternity, incredible! you can drive around 300000km and then fly to the moon.
and no... i dont have a picture.. comming soon

i thing i will take the tarox... then the car will only stand on the front wheels when i am braking :-)

The TAROX will stop you very well but $3300 for just the fronts is crazy
You could build an entire braking system for your car for allot less than that and have incredible braking performance.

If it were my car i would do the following
Fit larger e30 m3 discs front and rear
Fit the m3's master cylinder
Fit the 4 pot brembos from the 840ci on the front
Get custom brackets machined to mount the calipers
Fit twin pot rear calipers
Get custom brackets machined to mount them
Replace all the copper brake lines with new items
Fit braided brake hoses
Invest in seperate pads for track and road

That is only what i would do, and everyone has a different view of what should be done to cars, especially when it their own.

i agree...!!it sounds very well..BUT!! the custom made brackets are the problem! EVERY part who has a influence on power, sound, noise, pollution, etc etc. must be tested!so the want a test that this custom brackets are good enough (i know..stupid) if i could fit the 4pot brembos WITHOUT a selfmade bracket.. they wouldnt see it!no problem!yes, you have to show the car and an expert will have a look and make a ride!! if he has a bad day..!!good luck!!
another problem... i cant change from 4 to 5 bolts! so if anybody knows a DIRECT-BOLT-ON-WITHOUT-SELFMADE-PARTS-REAR-BRAKE-WITH-A-4-BOLT-DISC...let me hear

thats a total bummer. especially since the brakes are more of a safety upgrade than a compromising and dangerous one.

here in Italy is easier! all that is not provided and certified from BMW for that model is illegal (brembo bigger brakes too

)...
are the men that test the car able to know if car have 4 or 5 bolt from factory? I would do this http://lukasmotors.com/m_roadster_5_lug_swap.htm with e36 m3 brakes, so they are BMW stamped on calipers without brakets, and I'd put some stock BMW rims just to make it look as stock as possible... and then try to tell them that is a special version imported from another country

here in switzerland you can see the old bmw's e30 like sand on the beach!!! so they have a lot of experience with this cars and yes they know what is stock and what not!! so, i cant go there and say "yes, in 1990 they built this car with a 325mm disc in the front!!" and i cant say it is imported... it is in the cars paper written that is not!
but i have found the tarox brakes for "only" 2200$ !! for a swiss boy thats the solution with no problems...

Just put on Z3 or M3 brakes.
With some good pads, they should be plenty and you can get them re drilled to your old bolt pattern.

m3 brakes dont fit directly to the stock 318is e30 front spring strut! i have some here in front of me!and its not allowed to use "selfmade" adapters in our beloved country

Change the strut housing.

do you know kw-suspensions from germany? i have to send in my ORIGINAL front spring struts and then i receive the adjustable coilovers in exchange with mounted original lower part of the front spring strut! and WITH the certificate that it is tested by the goverment. it is a must here in switzerland! without that i cant use it on the street. if i have an accident... the insurance will not pay a cent if i have illegal stuff on the car!!

You are expecting entirely too much from the industry.
You cannot always have your cake and eat it too.

I know people have swapped out the M3 and Z3 struts into the car to upgrade the brakes though.

At any rate a bit of searching you will find there are more and cheaper brake upgrades out there than Tarox.

Also, I know you think you need better brakes on the car, but have you even considered some nice semi-race pads, good fluid and maybe some stainless lines instead. We see a lot of people coming on here and other Bimmer boards claiming the brakes suck and want big brakes, but the truth is, the brake system they have just needs an overhaul. The brakes on these cars have won awards for how good they are.

Also, I still do not understand why you cannot have the M3 or Z3 struts modded for coil overs instead of the 318 ones. If you have not had them done yet, what is the problem. Is there a reason you can do the 318 struts and not the m3/z3?

At any rate, check into vintage racing where they are not allowed big brake changes and see what those guys are doing with stock brakes. Some ducting, rebuild, better pads, cooling and lines do some amazing things for braking. Between that, and proper downshifting, your brakes should be plenty.
