Thanks Darky... I actually did pull the ECU out and it looked completely unmolested... I did redline line it for about 1/2 second.. VERY easy to do with this engine... Kinda scary as I've never done that before! Engine didn't seem to mind....

Just two niggles: electric windows won't work and there is a ticking sound when the car is moving that coincides exactly with rpm..I checked and its not the wheels so must be the driveshaft and heatshield somehow... SO, I will have to get under the car again today!!

So almost one down..

Feels GREAT to have her sitting there!

Well then you'll have a hard time going up to 7,800rpm after the chip goes in. You should just give me the car then. LOL

Have you checked the circuit breaker for the windows near the switches? Should be pushed in to work. Maybe you sat on it or something when you were playing around in the car cuz you were so excited about having an M3? Haha

Next you'll need cams.....then the Alpha N set up with complete airbox kit....then a really good tune. That should put you in the 250HP range! Or you can just buy mine and have over 300HP with no work involved....LOL

What happened to the deep lip wheels that were on it? Made the wheel-wells less emaciated looking?

Ralph, you'll laugh but that CB was part of the electric window problem... I didn't know what it was as it was completely faded out... and it was pushed out. Compounding the problem was the fact that one of the switches wasnt working (which I didn't know).. Once I figured out what that CB was it took 2 minutes to figure out the problem (I robbed my parts car for another switch!) Voila! Windows work!

That is stock fitment you're seeing... We are so used to 16s or 17s on e30's that 15's look puny... The 17s I had (still have on my e46) sucked honestly.. Not at all meant for that car unless you are a slow driving poseur. Which I am absolutely not. I am keeping an eye out for 16's (stock BBS) but Im in no hurry.. Once my inspection is done and the car is road legal I will try out some 5mm spacers on the rear and that should fill out the rear arch quite nicely...

I think she looks pretty f'ing awesome sitting in my driveway as she is though!!

Ticking noise gone btw.. not sure why.. will have a look today at the driveshaft at the muffler shop where I will be getting the exhaust welded back together... I dont think I will be able to get her inspected today so it will be next Tuesday - so you have a few days Ralph!! ;-)

Honestly there isnt any M3 left in that car!! Might as well be a 2015 model...  :P

I just went out with the wife this evening and spent an hour "driving" along a twisty road which  runs alongside a river for miles and miles.. no traffic, no cops and an 80km limit (mostly ignored)... I had a massive smile on my face the whole time...  ;D

I LOVE the M3 but I cannot wait to finish the iS... Some may think having the M3 has dampened my enthusiasm for the iS but it really hasnt... The iS IMHO looks better in some ways than the M3 and they are both very similar...
I will build the iS to complement the M3 ( a bit quieter exhaust and more forgiving suspension for our rough roads) but I will drive the hell out of her too... 8)

Ive only got a few hours of work left before she's done however... hehehe

I recently did a similar thing but I used fiebings dye, dyes vinyl, plastic, leather, skin and the kitchen sink or porcelain anyway (the bath). >:(

Buy that e30 too, I'm sure you still have a spot on your lawn?

Which e30 are you talking about? They are all mine!!! I've half a mind to keep the parts car as its quite nice... but I will try to sell it first for 4000$ and see if it sells... but not till October....


Did you dye your carpet? I have to do that next and the cans of paint it will require will be too costly....
