Here's a good thread too:
http://www.maxbimmer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54146

Stock rim (that's what I run) is a 14x6 with an offset of 35mm.  Your wheel will be 10mm closer to the strut (about 3/8"), 16mm farther out.  If I was in your shoes I'd be out there with a ruler to see how much room I had.

They seem a little close for (my) comfort, but a little rubbing isn't the end of the world.  Spacers are pretty cheap (don't forget longer lug bolts too), so even if you make a mistake you're not totally out of luck.

Nice threads, I have checked out the second one however the first one is new to me.  I'd prefer to have no rubbing whatsoever, however if I were to put say 215/40/16 on them, could I use them on my 318is without causing permanent damage?  If there would be rubbing, should I get 10mm spacers?  Thank you for your help, its really appreciated as I'm new to this.

depending on the tire size, YES.  I would deff suggest at least a 15mm spacer.  Like Dave said the rim itself will be 10mm closer to the strut and just over 1mm out past the old rim.

I would stick with the big names.  Tires are VERY important.

-Falken is prob the best bang for buck.

Good names, in no specific order
-Bridgestone
-Continental
-Goodyear
-Hankook
-Michelin
-Yokohoma

You can go outside these brands but I would not recommend it.

Ok thanks, I'll probably end up getting yokohamas.  How about for the spacers, I've been looking at eibach, and do they need to have certain specifications I need to know about?
thank you

Just make sure they are 4x100 and are hubcentric to e30's (57.1mm)

Thank you very much for your help.  Now for a pure aesthetic question...silver gloss?  Or black?
Thanks

Btw, I have an alpine white 91

Personally I would either do a bronze or a gunmetal wheel.  Can depend on the wheel though ;)

Well thanks for all of your help.  I understand a lot more about e30 fitments and how to fit my car thanks to you guys.  I'm actually considering a different wheel now, same measurements however, a little more of an offset, however I will put 15mm spacers.  They look similar to the BBS LMs.  Black mesh, and polished lip.  I'll be sure to post pictures when I get them on.
Thank you
