M90 Supercharger to M42!

once, but didn't master the clutch for the extra hp (bad shifts = slipping clutch) but even with massive clutch slippage, a mid 90's 626 wasn't a problem (only had enough room to get up to about 40 for next red light). Didn'T build it to race ricers, did it for fun and easier overtaking...

If you were starting over would you stick with an M90 or try to find something smaller like an M62/M45?

I'd try to find a short snout M62. why? blower speed is slow and can't hear the much apreciated "whine"(on M90), and I'd have more room for stuff along with hood clearance. On the other hand, I think that the larger M90 produces a little less heat than the M62 (doesn't work as hard)

My main thought was concerning packaging, although neither of those I mentioned are that much smaller.  The secondary thought was how an intercooler/piping would be routed.  Speaking of which have you had any time to consider intercooler plumbing?  Thanks for answering my rather open ended question.

I have given it a thought before building and found that it was much easier to run without given it was under 8-10psi. Then i became addicted to the power and considered IC piping using my existing setup. but, if i had to start from the ground up, i'd leave more space between sc and lower manifold and also move it down a little. this would permit me to still bolt it to the sc manifold but have an air path that leaves a little under the lower manifold runners towards the front and through the belts or to the left under the sc. and then have the IC air flow run on top of the fuel rail and enter the fabricated manifold in the middle. Not sure if you understand what im trying to explain...

Hello all! I am new to the forum, from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  After recently purchasing a 1995 BMW 318is from auction, I have decided to Fab an intake manifold for the M60 supercharger I have also purchased, came from (2000 Pontiac GTP)  I have already done some minor upgrading to the car, cone style airfilter/removed cat & resinator, 2.5" exhaust... I still cannot find out if it is an M42 or M44.  Is there anywhere I could find the layout of holes and ports in the head to start planning and designing the fabrication prints, as this is my daily driver at the moment, and would rather not remove the intake yet... At least I could start basic fabrication of the flanges, as I am a ticketed welder/pipefitter, and can stay late at work to build it, and have access to an unlimites supply of scrap!

And a couple questions... I see you are using #40 injectors, and WB 02, sensor, where could I find these?  Do you require the bosch bypass because your M90 does not have the bypass port? Or what exactly does the this bosch bypass do? I will be contacting Midnight Tuning for chip info!

After a lot of research, these upgrades seem like the most bang for your buck!

a good way to get a decent general bolt pattern would be to order the paper gasket. I found the injectors from another member and the WB02 with gauge off ebay. you REALLY want a bypass valve if there isn't one incorperated into the blower you have. it allows for normal manifold pressures at idle and cruise. Dont forget the blower always pushes air into the engine even when it doesn't need it, that valve prevents that ( example: afr @ idle without valve 17-18:1 and in normal you should have 14.7:1 )

hope that helps!
