Great job! Looks fantastic. Many of us dream to see at least once their engines in such a shape. Keep up the good work!

Let us know what those E28 engine moutns are like. I have a set but am waiting to fit them. One bloke on here said theyre 'too' hard..pah!

I've had the e28 mounts for a while now.  I wouldn't go so far as to say "too hard" but they're definitely noticeable.  You feel a lot more NVH in the car, but nothing unbearable... really tightens the whole car up for sure.

Productive day:

The engine finally came off of the stand and on to the hoist.

I got the 13lb 323 flywheel all mounted up.  Breaker bar in the right hand and torque wrench in the left... took a bit of skill to get them to 90lb/ft each.

Got the tranny mounted up:

I didnt really take a lot of pictures during the two hour struggle to get the engine in with the transmission on.  Pretty much everything under the hood is hooked up and ready to go.  I have the full M3 harness covers to go on too.

ken that is a beautiful job. a buddy of mine from northern california came out last year to help me strip a couple m42 cars at the scrap yard and he wound up staying for 3 months. my wife said the pizza man asked if she forgot how to cook lol

Hi Ken!  I'm glad I found this thread.  Good luck with the test run and break in.  Are the M3 harness covers different or better than stock?

Done.  Runs like a champ.  Still have only put about 30 miles on it though... went to NYC for a few days this week.

Jeff, the only M3 cover I used was over by the ground post by the "battery" tray.  Just makes it look a little cleaner.

pretty awesome.

Question on the RTV.  I suppose the only disadvantage would be if you have to take the engine apart for some reason, it would be a pain to scrap if off vs if using a paper gasket?

1. Scraping off RTV is 10x easier than trying to get an old paper gasket off... upper oil pan is the worst.

2. If I ever have to take the engine apart again, I'm pushing the whole car off of a cliff haha
