At the lower left corner of the radio opening, there is a dime sized thing that looks like a microphone. Anyone know what it is?

that gong speaker you speak off is on the driver side under steering wheel behind kick panel

I think it's the interior temp sensor grille, but the option wasn't ever available on the e30. My e34 has a similar setup with a little cage fan to sample interior air, despite the fact that I don't have the automatic climate control option.

There was a very rare option of a "climatronic" wannabe for the E30. In that place stood the interior temp sensor. I've only seen a handful of cars with that option. And mine.

I always thought that was just a sort of decoration or perhaps some sort of fake theft deterrent. I know my car gives temp, but that's outside temp.

I found an odd detail in a RealOEM diagram.

I'll bet that 12 & 13 are the ticket, right there. How it works is a mystery to me. Maybe a little analog computer & a servo controlling the mixture doors?

Also check out #8 on this diagram. I'm sure that BMW would do something silly like this, seems like a lot of work for very little gain.

wow its only $40 for part# 8 the temperature passenger cabin. What else is needed?

haha, just looked up the actuator $ about 400 from tischer. I guess someday when I have a job, i'll get that just for the cool factor.

sounds like something I would do but I no longer have anything related to the a/c system installed on my car
