First off I want to congratulate you on building such beautiful cars.  Truely pieces of art.

I bet those things are amazing on the track. Do you happen to have videos of either car in action? I bet it would be absolutely sick.

This is the first time we tested the car with the new motor and an open exhaust.

With a simple :D engine upgrade, you can move from F Mod to D Mod and jump into the deep end of the pool!

I noticed you tried running the whole grill covered up.  Did you run into an overheating issue?  I tried it in qualifying at Road Atlanta this O'fest and it ran a little hot in traffic and at low speeds. So, I kept just the headlights covered like what you have.

Your body work looks great especially where the fenders meet the side skirts.  Nice job.

I've toyed with the idea of going e-mod to try and set records.  Use a combo or a m50 b25 and a euro m50 b20 to get me right at the top of the displacement range.  Maybe an s52 head also.  Just ideas though.  The guys that run d-mod around are FAAAAST and I don't know if I'm ready to try and compete at there level just yet.  I still have the rookie X on the back so a little time under my belt isn't a bad idea before I move up.

We just decided to open it up to get the most air possible into the rad and oil cooler.  With ambient temps over 100 at many of the races last year we decided it made sense to let more air in.

We took the rookie X off the back of our car just about a year ago.

We decided to run in D-Mod because we wanted to run with more people.  Right now the car is faster than the driver.  I know my driving skills will improve with more seat time.

Great videos. A fun but competitive track car is what you got. Congrats on a great build.

I remember when you guys were first building up this engine, what did you modify this engine with, stock rods, and lower comp pistons? I sold my car a few months ago and the guy who bought it cracked the oil pan blew the engine and left the car at my buddies shop who proceeded to get it back for me for free. I was thinking about rebuilding and turboing the engine and it seems like you guys are running the most reliable set up out there with very good results over many race weekends. Is there a link to the original build thread?

Thanks

Stock rods, custom pistons, stock head (just rebuilt with valve job).

Here is a link with more detail.

I have a question. When you were putting in the drivers side cam chain rail, was it up against the back of the tiiming case or was it floating? Mine is floating about 1/4 inch away from the block. It looks ok but there are several threads showing between the rail and the case (not the front cover) from the upper threaded sleve and I'm trying to find out if that's normal or the cause of my at idle chain rattle. The rail doesn't seem to want to move and I tried turning the bolt without pulling the front cover but it's tight. If you can remember, I'd appreciate a reply about it.

That screw allows you to adjust how far that chain rail sits off the front of the head.  I doubt it's the cause of a chain rattle, but I suppose it could.  There should be a screw in it and if that's missing it would be your problem.
