Gearbox woes

Hey All

It seems i´ve got a problem with my gearbox. Sometimes i can´t engage the gears when the car is on, however when i turn the car off i can.
Has anyone had this happen to them?
I need to take this to my mechanic but i would like to go in having some idea of what is up.

Cheers

Have you bled your clutch?  Do you hear any grinding when you shift?

Could even be really bad engine/transmission mounts.  Don't laugh...I had that happen in an old VW of mine.  The engine would tilt and pinch the gear shifter, making shifting really hard. Wouldn't happen when the engine wasn't running.  I figured that out when the starter died & I had to always park facing downhill...

I it´s only difficult to engage the 1st and reverse gears but this only sometimes.
If the car is off, there´s no problem. I should probably replace the gearmounts anyway.
Btw, how do you bleed the clutch? :o
