How can I tell if my coils are going bad? Is there a test I can do? I am getting some misfiring. Thanks.
That's one of the downfalls with the coil pack. If one of the coils goes bad you need to replace the entire coil pack.
On the flip side, that's one of the upsides to our kits. If one coil goes bad you just replace that coil. We offer a 1 year warranty on our coils. If it's out of warranty these coils are a fraction of the cost of a coil pack. The other upside is not having coil wires. Coil on Plug is a more efficient spark method
Try switching the wires. To clarify for example, take the #1 coil wire off the #1 cylinder and the #1 coil position on the coil pack and move it to another cylinder. You should mark it so that you know which cylinder it came off of. Do the same with the rest of the coil wires. That might help you track down a bad wire which is sometimes part of the problem.
To test the coil you could get a coil tester at Harbor Freight or some other place that sells tools. It basically plugs into the spark plug end of the coil wire. Have a friend turn the car over and look to see if the tester lights up. I can't remember the cost of the tester but at Harbor Freight they are cheap (probably under $20 bucks might be around $10 bucks).
