Rear suspension noise? Please help
« on: May 04, 2009, 09:45:50 PM »
I am not entirely sure what causes the noise to occur, but it generally happens when I make hard right turns.  It sounds like it is coming from the rear driver's side suspension or something.  It is a clunking sort of noise, instantaneous, and repeating itself in the same time intervals.  It does not matter whether I go over bumps or not.  One time when I was driving, it made the same noise while driving straight for a couple miles until I turned.

Sorry for the vague-ness, but I may post up a video some time if my TOB isn't near the edge of death.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

Check your Rear Shock Mounts. Those are notorious for going out and making a clunking noise.

They look plenty fine to me.  There is a very small amount of surface rust on it, but other than that, looks as solid as new.

I think they can make noise anyway, even if they "look" new.

Mine started making the occasional noise going over the curb to my driveway, but only after I took them out and reinstalled them with new suspension. My noob ass probably installed something wrong though.

Is this a recourring noise, like a wheel bearing? Does its speed change depending on if you are turning one direction or the other?
The rear shock mounts are the other biggie as seen above.
