I had some custom cams ground for my stroker from the stock ones which are more aggressive than the Schricks. By that I mean they are more radical than Schricks with less duration at say .050" where mine are 222 degrees. Mine are 250/250 with 10.3mm lift. I chose a profile without having to weld up the cam. Basically, I cut a 250/250 but for better comparisons, I would recommend looking at duration of lift above 0.050" or greater where flow starts to occur. My cam registers 222 degrees of duration at 0.050" lift versus the Schrick 256's 215 degrees and the MM 258's 224 degrees. I want to run this 250/250 combo to get the most powerband out of the car without having to weld up and nitride the cam. So, I decided to mate a 250/250 combo to give me a very strong low and mid-range powerband but yet let me pull strong to about 7500rpm. This cam set will make it so you don't have to always drive like an a1$hole to feel fast, hahahahahahaha!
I also come from the E30M3 world and am really confused about numerous posts stating that you think it's ok to just put in Bigger inj's without any tuning change. This is completely new to me. Throwing in the Schricks and just running the car with a Mark D or Jim C chip will "probably" work fine since the stockers run about 204cc's if they are in perfect working condition. Putting in Bigger inj's and not change the fueling maps on a Mark D or Jim C chip is ?? I don't know what.....I think changing injectors that go from 204cc to 214cc is not much but 24#'s, that is like 250cc's. Ah, big difference! Mark would have to cut you a custom chip to run the larger inj's. If not, you will wash down your cylinders, weaken your oil, etc... I change my synthetic oil in my M3 after every 1-2 events depending on if it's a 2 or 3 day'er (NO more than 4 days) because I run Alpha-N tuned for the track. That's what?...8 hours. Pricey eh? But Safe!
Call Mark and ask him what he thinks about running 24#'s on his chip for a stock motor. I'd be interested in knowing what he said. There might be some compensation built into the computer, but not that much.
I've built my E30M3 S14 to around 290-300hp and used that knowledge while building my M42 Stroker. Hopefully to be in the car and running very shortly:-)
