Will the fan delete kit on understeer.com work for an e30 M42?

yes. I installed the 80� thermostat, the lower dual temp switch (80�/88�) and some Water Wetter. Looks like a decent "kit" since you get everything you need including new washer, o-ring and gasket.

There is some debate about running only the aux fan in the pusher configuration. I deleted my aux and clutch fan to install a 16" volvo fan in a puller configuration. But I have heard of people running only the stock aux fan with no problems.

I only used 1 bottle of water wetter. I have the Part numbers if you want to order them separately.

That would be awesome if I could get the part numbers! It seems like it would be much cheaper to buy the parts individually than to buy their kit.

Does your AC work? Summers in Portland are usually in the 80s and I use it frequently on my car. I was just wondering about engine temps with the AC running and hot ambient temps.

I don't understand how using a lower temp thermostat helps anything. The cooling system is capable of dissipating some set amount of energy. It doesn't matter if you let the water start flowing at 0 degrees or at boiling, it's going to get to whatever temp it's capable of.

The reason there is a thermostat is to keep the temp up, not down.

Well I guess I actually am using an 88� thermostat (PN:11-53-7-511-580) - not sure how that affects anything though. My car doesn't overheat and sits around half

80� Thermostat: 11-53-1-466-174

Bought my Water Wetter from BavAuto

You don't need the water pump thread cap. But I'm sure you could find some junk laying around or at the hardware store that will do the job for less than $10.

edit: I've only had this installed for a few days so I'm not sure how it affects the AC temp. I removed my ac belt anyways since my compressor is having issues. Sorry, no help there.

Just ordered the parts from BMA. I'll get the Water Wetter locally.

I can't wait to get rid of the damn clutch fan!

Because its not going to cool the engine any better, its just going to keep it from reaching proper operating temp

With my 88� t-stat I have had no issues getting up to temp. After the car's warm and I am idling, the temp gauge creeps a bit past half until my electric fan kicks on.

I'm planning on running only the stock aux fan. Should I still just use the 88?

I guess if it gets too hot when Summer comes and the AC is blasting, I can just switch it at that point.

I've had my fan pulled for three weeks with no issues and all I did was add two bottles of water wetter.
