Does any one know the torque pounds of the head bolts??

Just did this on my '93 318is.

Step 1 - tighten all the head bolts to 22 ft/lbs
Step 2 - tighten them all 90*
Step 3 - tighten an additional 90*

Make sure to tighten them in the correct pattern. Just do a search on here. There is plenty of info.

You need the E36 manual for the m42 motor.

one question on the head removal-note: Did you have to remove the camshafts from their seats? in other words: Can the head bolts be removed (and re-positioned, and torqued) without removing the camshafts?
Also, what�s good at removing all the grime and dust and oil that builds up on these areas (cylinder head, valves, etc)?
I haven�t done this before.

you can leave the cams in but you need the special Torx socket that reaches down past them to the bolts...

Well i took mine off i just clean them good n i just place some engine assembly lube on them

yeah, I have that torx socket. I was concerned �cause I read somewhere online about how hard it is to remove the cams by oneself, and how easily they break on removal if not done properly, making it almost mandatory a 2-person task. I try to read a lot about something that interests me, but also I tend not to believe everything I read, at least not blindly. So, how was your experience on this?

On the M20, I think so, on the M42, no - if you just back each cam bearing nut off 1/4 at a time then you'll be superfine.
