so what would be a good injector to upgrade to, im looking for the area of 24#'s or so. im wondering where to find a set, what engines came with them, and where a good price would be for them.

I was under the impression that unless you are going the fi route, 19# units from mustang 5.0's are all you really need. I don't know what your plans are, but 24# might be a little overkill.

the stock ones are 21#'s. i have 19#'s in my car, and realized this the other day...

and about the FI, who knows what this summer holds for my m42.... its all dependant on whether i score the job im shooting for.

someone told me stockers for a m42 was 17#? I don't remember who though so I guess its not reliable

I am 90% dure the M42 stockers are 17#. They are the same PN as M30 injectors.

i was talking to another guy yesterday and he looked up the P/N for the stockers and they were 20.5 lbs... but that was a euro car. i could be wrong then??

Sounds like we have just discovered some more euro parts to start importing

Otherwise, I was prety sure also about the stockers being #17 also.

It was me who was telling kowalski about m42 injector flow-rates.
put your injector part numbers up and i'll check them out, kowalski didn't give me his so am not sure whether yours are the same.

the stock injectors for the US market are the same number and are thus the same flow rate. I thought the M3 injectors were better but after much research I found that they are actualy 17.5lbs/hr at 43.7psi (3 bar)
and the ford mustang injectors are rated at 19lbs/hr at 33.5psi and 20.5 at 3 bar. the reason for using the mustang injector is for the 4 pintle (hole) nozzle which atomizes the fuel better and produces a better burn and thus more torque. The stock injectors are only one pintle and since most of use have cars over 100k, they could use a cleaning any way. Becareful which mustang injectors you buy or look at because there are early ones that dont have a 4 pintle nozzle but the older single pintle.

Now just a footnote think of the difference in dispalcement of the 5.0l mustang and the little 1.8l M42, these things are made to make HP and rev.

What year mustangs had the 4-pintle ones? I am down to try out some 20.5# ones (out system is 3 bar right?). I put the M3 ones in (4 pinthe as well), and really did not notice much power increase...it DID run smoother though with the better atomization.

I dont have the year butif you look on ebay or any one selling injectors on the net ask first if they are 4 pintle.

you can't be serious that you'd prefer to run injectors with the wrong flow rate just cos they have 4 pintles! thats nuts!
running 19.5lb injectors will lean the fuelling off even more than our horribly lean factory setup... forget the 4 pintle thing, it makes very little difference - have you ever seen injectors on an injector tester? the difference between a 4 pintle and single is really slight. more important is to make sure the injectors are firing in a nice shape - any clogging or dirt means they 'spit' all over the place. also the 4 pintle ones clog easier. agreed though that clean injectors are important.

whats wrong with the 5L mustang injectors? your confusing me a bit on this... i'm heading to the dyno soon hopfuly, and im gona get myself an adjustable FPR and see if im running lean or not. where can i get a decent FPR for a reasonable price, or does anyone have one for sale?
