I feel your reputation was NOT hindered in anyway. I do not know you like most of the members here but I know you enough to know that you know what you are talking about and I respect you. I would not send him the other half of the manifold. Otherwise he will ask for everything inside and out saying that its all part of the manifold. He's a little prick.

But When I here Intake manifold along with just about everyone here we think that upper body.

FYI to any buyer and seller

I would give a part number along with what you are selling. Buyers request a part number if it is not given.

I mean jpreston I understand that you thought you were getting the whole thing but even claimed you were not knowledgeable in product you were buying which makes it your fault along with Matt-B for not being specific and assuming everyone knows what he is talking about. You should have done a little research before buying. You would have seen that there is an upper and lower half. You then should have asked Matt if he is giving you both because the price was really low and did not seem right from the start.

I mean you see a 1998 car for 1000 dollars you�re not going to send the guy cash and have it shipped to your place. The car could be missing parts like the engine, tires, body etc. Well its still a car like the Manifold he sent you was a manifold. It was missing part that you did not question. The price of the car was low you need to find out why.

Not literal legal advice... simply asking the opinion of a friend that went to law school, since this is the type of stuff law school is meant to teach. I'm amazed that anyone could think I was looking to take legal action against him based on my comments...

Then "everyone here" is wrong. Have you all never owned a car other than an M42-powered BMW? The definition of an intake manifold should be pretty obvious to anyone that knows anything about cars, and an upper half is not a complete intake manifold. Realoem even lists the upper half and lower half as "parts." Definition of the word "part"- "an essential portion or integral element." What if I posted a for sale add for a multipiece BBS wheel and only sent someone 1 piece of the wheel, would I not be in the wrong? It's the same thing... an intake manifold is not a complete intake manifold without all of the "parts" that it needs to function as one, nor is a multipiece BBS wheel. It's really pretty simple guys.

So, by my deduction the m42 has 2 intake manifolds, I said manifold meaning one. And Im right....so boo ya!! And you ask if we have ever owned any other cars, why the FUCK would i want to own anything besides an e30. I cant find a reason

Actualy, I would have to side with Jpreston on this...

You sold an intake manifold, it takes BOTH halves to make the intake manifold. If you buy a 2 piece manifold from a manufacturer it is labeled as a manifold (singular) and comes as a set, because one part is utterly useless without the other. Should he have made sure, yes, but as a seller, you also should have clarified since you DID know it was 2 parts and even then didn't specify. You can say Jpreston should have known better, but it can also just as easily be said that you made a questionable deal. Pot meet kettle.

Jpreston said he spoke with a lawyer friend asking for clarification, he did NOT say he was looking to sue or anything else. Just saying "Hi" to a lawyer will cost you more than this transaction, and you do not need a lawyer for small claims court. Which also costs more than this transaction. Nothing wrong with asking, as you have stated yourself.

To me you did tarnish your reputation, but not because of the transaction, but how you handled the problem.
You created a stir over $5? Seriously? You could have bitten the bullet and showed how good you were and came out smelling like a rose. Had you stood up and said "You know what, we both made mistakes but I should have specified. Here, I'll send it out free..." You would have come out looking like a hero. Instead you wait to get your $5 extra bucks from the deal. Is it fair expecting the shipping? Yes, but is it smart from a business standpoint? No.

I do not expect to see this discussion disappear. You had a dispute it was resolved. Others need to know HOW it was resolved. The Sell/Swap is a contract between two buyers, the site only facilitates the communication. We do not moderate it or anything else except facilitating communications, same as if you called on the phone to each other. Would you expect the phone company to be able to help? Nope. If you delete these posts you are moderating and controlling the transactions and therefore putting this site and me at risk.

Hey Matt do you have alloy center caps for the e30 basketweave? On the way to the beach one of mine fell off and I need anouther one. If you have one great how much and if you have 4 how much for all 4?

Also matt Sheepdog is right Intake manifold is the whole thing not just the top. You should have provided the part number at the start. But its done and over He got what he wanted, you and he along with us all have learned a value able lession
