I purchased an intake manifold from Matt-B a few weeks ago and was pretty disappointed with the transaction. Went to the forum admin and paypal before posting this, but unfortunately couldn't get anything done to fix things for me.
Not counting the fact that I waited over 2 weeks to get my part and he never gave me any kind of confirmation that it shipped, he only sent me the upper half of an intake manifold when the for sale ad listed "intake mani for sale."
His response when I received the package with only half of the manifold:
did you expect the lower intake to? sold you the intake mini only 1. i didn't make much as it was i think 16$ to send it. I have a lower Ill also sell. but both for that price is nuts. I never said both. check the pms.
intake manifold and VC is what i advertised. sorry for confusion
My response to that:
Yes, I fully expected to get both. It only makes sense that if a complete "intake manifold" includes an upper and lower section and you say that you have an "intake manifold" for sale, you're not just selling me half of it. If you were only selling the upper half it would have made sense to list is as "upper intake manifold for sale." It doesn't matter to me what it cost you to ship it... I made you an offer (and I believe I told you that I didn't have a clue what it was worth at the time) and you accepted the offer.
He fails to understand that an intake manifold should include everything between the head and the throttle body. I admit that I never asked him if both the upper and lower manifold were included, but I'm still completely new to the M42 and until disassembling my E36 M42 a few days ago had never even seen a 2-piece intake manifold, and therefore had no clue it was a question that needed to be asked.
If he is correct and this is how the m42club members denote a "manifold" or "manifolds," then the system is quite flawed. An upper half is not a complete manifold, nor is a lower half, therefore you can't argue that an upper and lower half combined equals more than one manifold... aka "manifolds" as he tried to argue with me. A listing for an "intake manifold" should include both pieces, or specify which piece it is.
Pretty disappointed that of all the people to have a problem like this with, it happened with a forum moderator...
