Anyone ever tried this on their 318is?

Something like, say, 205/55/15 in front &
225/50/15 in the rear?

yeah, how much power you got on tap?
Are you consistently breaking the rear end loose powering out of turns?
You want to take advantage of the E30s balance and allow it to rotate around the corners. Too much tire in the rear will keep it planted while the front uses up all its grip and slides.
Big rears are for putting the power down effectively. If you can't put the power down you need more grip. You're better off going larger but keeping them the same front and rear.

Well, I am adapting a Downing Atlanta Supercharger kit and will probably have well over 200bhp at the crank. It was just food for thought.

OK, so, 175 at the wheels or so?
May start to break them loose in heavy transitions but I'd still vote for bigger front and rear to keep it balanced. With more power on tap you'll need the grip in the rear, but then your corner exit speeds will be higher so you'd be limited by front grip to a small degree.

With more power you'd use the rears and also use the extra grip in the front to balance it all out. The extra power will make up for the extra weight of larger fronts, so no biggie.

What wheels do you plan to run? You should be able to fit 225's without spacers depending on the wheels. With such a flat torque curve I would want all the traction I could get.

I will be using Ronal LS 15" x 7.5" wheels. So, what do you think about 225/50/15's all around?

Cool, I just picked up a set of Ronal LS 15s, nice looking wheel if not a bit heavy. It's the price you pay for fashion, ha ha.

I would certainly run 225s on all four corners. When you buy tires see if they have some kind of section width spec, some tires don't offer a whole lot more width with a 225 over a 205, like the 215 azensis are actually wider than the 225s. They cost a bit more but that extra bit of tire looks nice.

My Ronal LS's are for sale (on this forum.) I am going with 949racing wheels, size 15 x 7.5.
