Oil Service Light

So a few hundred miles ago my Oil service light popped on with 1 yellow LED. Couple more hundred miles and it had a red light next to it. Seriously annoying and wondering if there is another way besides a check tool to reset these lights. I know my oil is fresh and clean with a new filter every time because i always change my oil myself.

There is a fix to jump the connectors just like the reset tool. I believe the lights
works of a counter. What you can do is reset it everytime you do an oil change. I have the tool, but I know the paperclip hack is available if you search for it.

Hmm damn! I don't personally trust shorting it out! I guess ill run down to the dealer and have this fixed! I wonder if i can permanently get this to not come on!

dealer might make you pay i've done the shorting and it works fine.  All you are doing is exactly what the reset tool does.

Ya i'm a real smooth talker when it comes to dealers.. I always get a discount at auto parts stores because i am a dealer... ya that's it... I'm a dealer.. haha not! but some auto parts stores lower there prices when i call them back and let them know the price was too high for my customer.. this work at all autoparts stores except autozone in my area.

Dude, this is the most basic of things you can do....

* According to the type of plug on your car, locate the right connectors, marked red in the diagrams;
* Use the jumper wire to connect them together;
* Turn the key to ON position, without starting the car;
* When the 5 LED's in the dash light up (3/4 seconds), turn off the key. If you keep the ignition on, another 6/7 seconds, after the LED's appear, you'll perform an inspection reset, too.
* Disconnect the jumper wire.



Be careful! Make sure you jump the right connectors! The best way to follow the diagram for the late type connector is to match its center circle cut (that looks like a pac-man smiley--MAKE SURE IT IS FACING THE CORRECT DIRECTION..I HAVE SEEN THIS CONNECTOR REVERSED...PAC-MAN FACING THE OTHER WAY) with the one in your car.

how are the oil lights supposed to work anyhow...?

When I turn my key on, I see (2) greens illuminated right now, as the car is started, they go away.  I've yet to see my oil indicator lights come on when the car is running (or driving) - is there a set interval as to when they actually would come on?  How does the count down for these service indicator lights work - are any of them supposed to be lit at all while the car is operational?

I'm curious to know if mine are working properly, or if working at all... LOL!

all of my greens are lit, and stay on when the car is running.  I just reset it a couple days ago..  It was 'red'..
