Well I'm waiting at the airport in KC, MO to go to Chicago to buy another Diamond Schwarz Metallic 318is. I've posted pictures other places here and will post up full pictures after I pick up the car.

Just thought I would get the thread made and say HELLO officially to all of you M42 enthusiasts!:D

If you live anywhere in between Chicago and Springfield, MO hit me up today! I'm running on about 20 minutes of sleep in the past 24 hours and am STOKED!

THE sheldonjace thread..

Heck yes! :D

Anyways I've been thinking a lot about which direction I want to go with the car first. Is it going to be looks, handling, or go fast parts. I've decided to focus mainly on just making it plain clean, hopefully very clean.
On Monday I think I'm going to shop around town for a few different quotes on body work for the dings and replacing the hood, and possibly a full repaint or respray. If I find that it is anywhere under 3k I'm probably going to do it sometime in July, at least I really want to if I don't blow my money on any thing else.

Honestly I think something is wrong with the motor. I've yet to actually inspect fully underneath the hood as I've been swamped with plans since I'm only home a short amount of time and I've been trying to see all my family and friends. But I'm devoting tomorrow to the car :)
The guy I bought it from said that the motor does "Sweat" a little bit which makes me wonder. He has been running Castrol Dino 10w40 I think and if it sweats with that I'm wondering what might just happen if I were to start running synthetic. I wonder if I'd find much more leaks than I need.

It rides AMAZINGLY well though. So smooth and solid on the highway and through the turns. The car has Billy and H&R sports with a cabby front sway and an m3 rear sway so the guy says...haven't checked and can't quite tell.

I'll just list what it has:

1991 318is - 175k miles on chassis, 110k miles on motor
4.10 LSD
Yellow Fogs
Newer 100k replacement M42 motor
Newer Spark Plug wires/Coils
All fluids changed(engine,trans,diff)
New Water Pump/Thermostat
R&R any cracked vacuum hoses
New Idle Air Controller
New Air Filter
Newer Clutch,PP, throwout Bearing
New Clutch Slave Cylinder
New Timing Chain/Sprockets/Tensioner
New Pads/Rotors F/R
New Battery
New Bilstein Sport Struts
H&R Sport Springs
New OEM rear E46 RSM
BMW Cabrio front sway bar w/new bushings
BMW M3 rear bar
Mark D 93 Oct Chip
15" BBS RA's
BMW "IS" front lip spoiler
BMW "IS" side skirts
BMW Mtech2 rear spoiler
BMW M3 Short Shift Kit
BMW Maplight Mirror
BMW US license plate filler
OEM Bosch Euro Smiley headlights
Kamei Eyebrows
Custom Center Armrest
Top tint strip, rear 3 windows 50% tint
MHW style rear taillights
Alpine cd/mp3 stereo unit CDA-7894
Crimestopper alarm w/keyless entry/remote start

Any input would be cool...criticize away as I know I have a lot of work to get this car up to my standards and be what I want but I figure this is a good solid car to start again with.

Nice. I'm loving those IS skirts, but the tails look pretty homemade to me. One of them has darker tint than the other, or mabe it's just in my head ;).

wow wow wow wow, I just realized that I've seen this car on here before. He almost never posted pics of it, but how many people have that console, the Probe armrest, Style 10's, and all of the Mtech stuff? Do you happen to remember the screenname?

Do you still have the style 10's? Selling those or the MHW tails?

Yea the IS skirts are awesome! But I hate the tails personally. I'm buying some used ones soon to replace them. And my friend said the same thing about the tint.

Yea he didn't say if he was on M42club but I found it over on BF.c
The PO was trying to fix all the little rice things that the owner before him had installed like the hoodpins, gutted the starter and now it just has a swith and a push button and no key ignition, and some other annoying stuff.

I'm replacing the center console today with my other one so thats good. I also chose the BBS's instead of the style 10's. I just didn't like them.

I'll sell the tails instantly. Cheap too.

I just noticed that you said they are "MHW style." Are they actually MHWs or are they just tinted?

Honestly I think they are just style. I'll most definitely check them when I get home.

I talked to Jim Rowe the other day about building/rebuilding one of my M42's :). I think I'm taking a trip up to MM when I get home to discuss in further what all I want to do. He was super nice and helpful to talk to, can't wait to actually meet all the guys up there.

Anyone want that armrest the previous owner had in there? I believe its from a Probe and there was an old thread somewhere on this board talking about it haha.

So I've been looking into a bunch of parts lately as I decided to keep my 318is.

I just bought the Rieger Infinity Lip and Splitter from Abrahams and I'm excited to put those on.

I also just bought a new front bumper, valence, euro grilles, rear headrests and brackets and a few other little things that I've been wanting.

I'll have pictures after I paint all the new parts and I'm still looking for a new hood. Here is a picture of the car with the new Euro Plate mounted....

Well I finally uploaded the only crappy pictures I have of my car right after I purchased it. A lot will be changing soon and I'll be coming home in a month so I can get LOTS of pictures with my new Dslr.

Anyways here are some taken with a point and shoot a long time ago...

There are some more pictures on my picasa http://picasaweb.google.com/SheldonJace/E30318is#5229929992301281362

I am debating whether or not Diamondschwarz metallic can pull off gold wheels because I'm on the verge of purchasing those 16" ESM's for sale over on R3Vlimited....just don't know though.

So I just ordered the urethane tranny mounts, motor mounts, rear subframe mounts, steering coupler, and RTABS from IE. Can't wait till those get in.

I'm still looking for new wheels and sort of just updating this thread as I go with what I buy. I'll get pictures of everything being installed and everything after install. I hope I can have some pretty "WOW" pictures here in a Month or so after the car nears completion (Well, no E30 is ever complete :p).

Anyways just thought I'd post. I'm happy. Can't wait to order all my motor parts soon.

Oh and I just order the COP conversion kit with coils from Rob_e30!

Okay so we finally got around to pulling the motor out of my spare 318is.

Got it all apart in one night and found that the internals are in pretty good shape and relatively clean...Heres a pic.

Okay so I could just post up the parts that I've bought and ordered and am waiting on but I figure pictures will work hehe.

Heres the pile of parts I've recieved so far. I'm still waiting on taillights, All redline fluid throughout the car, and a few other things. My parts are filling up rooms at my friends house since I live in an apartment hah. Still haven't decided if I'm buying new pistons or not but assembly starts soon.

I have all 4 keskin kt1's but I only took pictures of one front (left) and one rear (right)
