Well...

I haven't raced yet, but I will next season.  I'm just getting track time to get my racing license.

Lol I have no hope then....I started on my Race car, picked upp the shell, interior is stripped. And yesterday i bought a new clutch kit, e36 rack and finished cutting the sunroof bracketry out :D

Going to get the cage bent this weekend (more money) lol just thinking about it, your damn right about money going out of fashion  if my dad didn't owe me a grand, it would have been about $1500 out of my pocket within about the space of a week.

yowch. i cannot see budgeting that much for a new set of control arms every year.

anyway, got the arms i'll be using from http://www.alloembmwparts.com/ - they were the only supplier that had a different part number for the 97+ M3 rather than just two kinds of e36 control arms, "aluminum" and "steel". my buddy back home in california is working on the car for me while i'm deployed, but if he manages to make progress before i come home on leave in two weeks i'll be sure to get pictures.

any news on the control arms how did they work???

Just realised you guys are still wondering about the arms. for e36 five lug setup in the front as deekay has pointed out. You NEED e36 97+ m3 aluminium arms and the offset bushes. (the m3 arms are slightly swept forward for improved caster).

Something else to note is some offset bushes aren't offset as much as the standard e30 m3 ones.

I hope that clears it up for you guys. As far as i know it bolts straight in with e36 spindles.

If i ever do a five lug swap I'll personally be retro fitting e28 stuff, much like the e30 m3has with an adapter plate on the bottom. This will also give me the chance to correct the angle of the lower control arm due to race car ride height :)

It's been some time and I wanted to post a couple vids of the car in some action.

It's now a bmwcca club racer and has competed at Watkins Glen and at Road Atlanta.

First in class both races.  Well...  It's the only one in it's class.  They actually didn't know what to do with it at one of the races.  Everyone was like, "Whats an f- mod?"

I laughed and said.

Slow.

very slow!

haha

Seriously, it does really well considering it has over 60 hp LESS than the closest competitor and over 200-300 less then the fast guys.

Here is the vids from my last driving school in canada.

Cheers.
