E30 M3 springs? Where to get? Only used?
« on: May 05, 2008, 10:46:32 PM »
So I read that these are a slightly stiffer than the stock 318iS springs? True?

Lower the car .25"? True?

If so then I'm thinking that may be a cost effective solution combined with spring pad removal. Maybe it'll tide me over till I can get some H&R sport or race with Billys or Konis.

For now i'm in super tight budget mode and trying to get parts for suspension and brakes.

Just read from B Purcell that the M3 springs are nearly identical to the 318iS springs with the rear being only slightly stiffer. Not worth it as most people want about $100 for them.
Just thought I'd share.
I'll look for aftermarket.

I've got M3 springs on my 318ic and they are definately stiffer and slightly shorter than the OEM springs. I removed the spring pads as well and its really a nice ride height for a daily driver. Handles 100% better than oem. Decent ride quality. With an ic I was worried about it becoming too stiff. I would do this again on a street car versus aftermarket springs. If i was autocrossing it would be a different story.

Unless the is springs are stiffer than the ic springs i don't think they are "nearly identical" at all.

I put eibach road race (NLA) springs on the M3. That along with delrin and urethane bushings is rock hard. I can tell the difference between a dime and a nickle at 30 mph.

Ok, maybe the info is wrong then. Post pics please!
I know the vert is little heavier than the coupe but I was hoping to remove spring pads too.  I've got the 4x4 stance right now but I want any additional performance benefit of stiffer springs too.
