Author Topic: "Basketweaves" or BBS rims - how do you folks clean or keep them clean? (Read 7637 times)

Just curious - I like the style/look of the factory "basketweaves", however, they look like they are a royal PIA to clean or keep clean...

For those of you who do have those or similar style BBS rims - what do you use to clean them and how do you keep them clean in between all of the "weaves"...??

I use simple green, hose, sock and toothbrush. About 10 minutes per tire.

I use purple power insted of simple green, I have found it works better, but otherwise the same as monty

All the above plus a 3500 psi pressure washer....Removes all the old and some of the new...lol

I used to use the spray down, and scrub every nook by hand with a toothbrush wrapped in a towel, but I've moved on. I picked up a nice brush with bristle with soft tips but firm farther down, I just spray down the wheels with water and some cheap wheels cleaner, scrub for a short while, and spray off. The wheels get cleaner and its easy enough to do every few days when I wash my car, so brake dust never builds up anyway.

the best way to keep them clean is to paint them black... lol
i just use a pressure washer!

Haha, the best way is to momentarily slap some 15X8 slips wrapped in 225 tires and realize that these little cars look badass with wider rubber, then proceed to not replace them with your old, curbed, counterweight infested, ass pain conjuring weaves.

I found a power washer to be the best angle of attack.. got tired of my fingers going numb after 2 wheels..

If you don't mine spending the 50 dollars your local BMW dealers sell a kit that includes several size brushes. From the kit theres a short straight brush I use on mine not to mention S100 I use on my "Road King Classic". Or you can get a part cleaner brush and cut it short so the brush is stiff. All I do is spray the S100 on one wheel and go the next wheel. By the time I spray the next wheel the first wheel is ready for cleaning. I simply "dab" and do a "paitning" motion in betwen the wheel.

With the S100 sprayed on you shouldn't need to spend a lot brushing the wheel the chemical affect of S100 will remove mojority of the dirt builup.

I'm going to try one of those cheap Crest power tooth brushes. Tired of the skin of my knuckles being shaved off when giving my IX a bath!

Last time I put pads on my E30, I used Axxis Metal Masters. Some initial squealing, but no more dust!
