Try this - 1/3 vinegar 2/3 water.  The brake dust seems to dissolve - and comes of easily with a rag and hose.  

I tried using some of the wheel cleaning chemicals and they work - but I had a feeling that my wheels would pitted over time from the harsh chemicals.
