I just got some off of the only 850 I could find (a 2006 model year) this weekend. I'm excited to try it. They only charged $0.99 each!

I wonder, would it work to remove all but the top-most rubber flap/ring? The idea would be that (hopefully) it sill be thin and flexible enough to turn concave when shoved in and create a good seal. I'm just worried it'd be too tight and actually pull the plug out. Or maybe do this ot the bottom-most ring? I'll have to experiment next week.

I tried that, no deal. They have to go into the spark plug hole about 1/4" or more above that point.

Best thing I think, is to cut off the bmw rubber cover part and slide it over the wire. High temp silicone could be used to seal it to the Volvo wire if so desired.

One other thing i thought of, would M10 wires be an option? the boots are straight and don't have the 90* angle on the back so they should go straight into the spark plug holes right?

Anyone tried the magnecor 45247 (8.5mm) wires. The seem to be available for ~$90 + shipping. I'm still checking to see if these are indeed the right ones...

it'd be cool if they did, I also saw some new NGK wires in the JY for a different car but didn't look at the connectors.

I think the M10 uses the old style connector on the rotor end of the wire. Not sure though. M20 and M30 wires have the correct connector on the rotor end but are not compatible at the plug end. I tried mixing and matching a few at the JY using an 850 as reference. Dodge neon/mini cooper wires also work but the wires are too short.

Simple green would probably work, clean them up with it, let teh wires dry and wipe them with Solder Seal Silicone spray lube. I use it to protect wiring and hoses.... Have for years..
