Yeah, just working on cloth while you are working on metal.

Update to electric fan:

Yesterday was my first real day of driving in rush hour traffic without AC. The temp out side was not hot either. I guess a small cold front came, so I decided to enjoy the cool weather with windows done. It was in the mid 80s. I was in the traffic for over 15 minutes. With AC on, fan is on at low speed and temp never goes over noon on gauge. Remember that my fan is installed in place of the aux fan, so I only have the fan shroud on the engine side. When the car is stopped the needle creeps up very slowly. Eventually it gets almost to the end of the little temp logo on the guage, never really passes it. This is about the halfway point between half and 3/4. I don't know if the fan turns on and stablizes it. When I got home, I left the car running, as the needle went back to before noon. I then got out, the needle by this time was about noon, and noticed the fan was on at low. So looks like it works correctly. It was on at low. So the fan thru the condensor and radiator produces enought airflow to cool engine. I am very happy. Also I know the fan can kick in on high if needed. If I see the temp going high like this more often, I will just get a lower temp switch. I am just happy that everything is working, even the new temp switch I bought.

Regarding noticing any difference, none really. I do notice the engine to be a lot more quiet without the fan clutch. Also I know its less stress on engine so doing some test on fuel ecomomy. Will post that after the survey.

I do recommend the upgrade as just the AC feels colder even in really hot weather. The fan is more efficient and more quiet. Looks nice too. About removing the fan clutch, I guess it depends on a few things. I rebuilt the engine less than 2 years ago and also just did a coolant flush. Make sure you have no cooling issues before doing this. Also the type of driving can dictate this upgrade. I do most highway driving during rush hour and it is not bad at all.

Another update. Started to work on my new interior. I first started the rear deck shelf. It took longer as with life's interruptions and business travel I am finishing it up. Just need to glue the tips and cut the excess. Then need to install speakers and mount it back in car. Did the shelf with black micro fiber (UV treated). Here is a a before and after teaser....

Well tonight I ended up doing the new rear headrests. My new rear seats will be different then what is currently, and they came with headrests, can't wait. Will start on the lower half this weekend. Originally in tan leather, and it good condition, just needs a cleaning. If I get the skins off without rips, so far headrests ok, I will sell the kit for anyone who needs it. So far not hard job to do it yourself. Kevin's kit and instructions are worth it.

Here is before and after (just need to vacuum little debris from new cloth)...

I will need to look at pics I have and if not I can walk you thru it. I also used the stock resistor for the 2 speed. Do you want that also?

Finished the top part and very cool part....they originally came with the rear headrest which is going to be an added plus. Next it to pull the rear side panels and front seats to shampoo the carpets. Install everything the rear and then start on the front seats.

Here is the final pic....

Haven't done much to car lately, just oil change and gas. Starting to get back into the swing of things while I wait for some parts to continue the interior rebuild.

Currently my front bushings seem to be on their way out and they are squeaking and small thumping while driving at low speeds. So decided to start with my AKG upgrades, here is the first one, front CAB M3 offset (ready for install). Waiting on some ATE Plastilube to install them.

Have been busy with other stuff and luckily that car is just a daily driver with no issues. Just gas and go. I am starting to give more time to it. After changing my hood release cable becasue it snapped, the cable straps which hold the cable and other electrical cables snapped due to age and being brittle. After 3 attempts to get the right straps, I did. I installed them today. Next to is to replace a hose that is leaking power steering fluid, very annoying.

Here are 2 of the old ones and the 3 new ones. The old ones are short due to breakage.

Got some more work in over the holiday weekend. Not exciting by more of regular maintenance in my opinion. First, my washer fluid system is not working. I am starting to go over all the faulty equipment. I just ordered new clear hose and while I wait, I installed the new modern OEM fluid reservoir cap. I know I need new hose and a screen for the reservoir so far.

Other thing I did today was replace my leaking power steering fluid hose from reservoir to steering gear. My car had the older style, hose to pipe and using clamps. The current BMW part is a single piece with the hose crimped to the pipe. My hose was all cut up around the bottom clamp.

Here are some pictures. The last 2 are to compare the gunk the fluid leaves behind around the rack.

Tank with old cap. Cap has crack across it on the inside, but visible from the outside. New cap installed.

Here is the original hose just loosen and starting to drain.

here she is bleeding (draining)

Comparing old with new, I used existing bolt but new washers

Cleaned the underside and here is new hose installed

Here is the difference in gunk build up, pic taken from front of car looking towards rear.

Another update. I replaced the gasket for the cap on the PS reservoir and the main belt. Also also replaced the adjusting bracket for the PS pump. Here are some of the pics. Also included my recent acquisitions, OEM BMW Fender cover. Has BMW roundel in the lower left corner and magnets to hold it on. It has 3 velcro straps, not sure what for.

Old gasket removed, then new one installed.
