What is a hardy disc or joint disc

Excuse my ignorance, I searched the site and and found nothing to this name, also check out oemparts.   Any ideas, of what its purpose is, thanks.

i believe that it the coupling between the transmission output shaft and the driveshaft.  there shoud be 6 bolts going through it.

If you are talking about Item 2 that's the thick rubber mounted between the transmission outfut flange and the drive shaft.  it acts a vibration absorber.

yes, on the link above the number 2 is called a hardy-disc.. joint-disc is a similar word

Sweet i think thats what it is, because the mechanic i had taken it to told me that there was a vibration in the car due to that, is it hard to change for someone who doesn't have a garage, or access to a lift?

That is a Guibo. You have to drop the exhaust, underbody shield or panel. 6 bolts. You need a 17mm 6-point box end wrench. Use all new lock nuts, and make sure the arrow on the side of the guibo is pointing fwd. Tighten your bolts evenly, progressively,  and in a cross pattern.
If you don't get it right, you'll be doing it again. It will vibrate itself to pieces. I know from experience.
It can be done without a lift.
FCP Groton has a good price , so does a vendor on e-bay called joeltec (sp?)
Now is a good time to replace your center support bearing if it hasn't already been done.

Ohh, I wasnt sure what he was talking about before. Never heard it called a "hardy" disc before. Usually called a guibo or flex disc.
