irish friend, you should keep it all bmw, honnestly.
put the money you have for the f20c into parts for the m42
there is, imo, more pride to building an engine than to swap a better one

Thats what im starting to feel, there is no such thing as a free meal.

The s2k engine and ancilaries is going to cost me €3000 + €1200 for a standalone ecu.....and then on top of that there is custom mounts, exhaust manifold, exhaust system, fuel pump, driveshaft......and suddenly my original plan of saving money is gone.
And thats all before telling my insurance company and watch as they put my premium through the roof.

I may have to change my mind, and stick with the m42/44.....i guess il start another thread tommorow when im in college.....speaking of which, its now 3:20 am and i have to be up at 7:15 am.....its okay, we get to play with the dyno tommorow

i mean they are very cool cars and the engines have the redline where we have the fuel-consumption gauge..

.. but the parts for them are sooooo expensive.. and there is more electronic than in the spaceshuttle!! and you see them on every corner!!
my friend is a honda-mechanic and he has a few hondas, but he is always looking what i am doing with my 3 bmw's... :cool:

swiss i dont think he was making an actual accusation of racism, i think it was just a tongue in cheek play on words, nothing to do with race or ethnicity.
My advice, so as not to mess up your own thread, is to delete the little outburst you had.
Not that you didn't make a valid point, but just to avoid drama.

Its very difficult to express sarcasm or tongue in cheek using the medium of text, so lets all be m42/44 loving buddies

Honda engines are great, and can rev for days...to be honest, i wish my m44 had some of the honda engine's characteristics but the hassle of fitting a non bmw engine into a bmw doesnt seem worth it.
My only option is to spend the money i would have spent on the conversion on building a very strong m42

i dont care, you all know that wasnt a "joke" but anyway..! as a bouncer in front of a club i have every single weekend (thursday/friday/saturday) stupid discussion about racism and ethnicity..! every month it ends at least once with knifes, blood, broken bones and a lot of police.... because of "jokes" like that!

yes, a bmw engine with some honda engine characteristics, a high rev limit, non hydro-lifters, etc.. i am building a strong m42 at the moment and hoping to get 180hp out of the engine.. but we will see!

I understand where your coming from. Ive been a bouncer for my friends band a few times and ive had the racist/sexist/etc card pulled on me too...when i am none of those things and it has really annoyed me too

I just dont think that beegeezy was trying anything of that sort, merely trying to create banter.
But i can see where your coming from, there was no need to bring race into a thread about cars.

I managed to locate a bmw motorsport specialist today, about two hours north of my house.
He has loads of M\\\ parts along with ex-racing parts, including ex BTCC e36s.
Hopefully he will be able to source, or at least give me information on, an s42 crank.

Just wondering,
will you be going back on a second trip to get info on the s42?
I havent posted in this thread in a few weeks due to my brief interest in the f20c.

nice to hear that you probably found a bmw source "near" your home. i probably know where to get s42 cranks.... but they are freaking expensive... around +2500.-$ a piece! whole engine between 16000.-$ and +45000.-$ depends on the evo steps.. and if rebuild or not.. the engine of the car, where i have the pics, need a rebuild every ~1000km for thousands of swissfrancs... thats the reason why the owner dont race that much....

if i had time enough.. i would go there everyday..

it would not be the second trip my friend, it would be the 4th...

, i still need some pics of the cams, valves, camcarriers and the whole car lifted up... oilcatchtank around the gearbox etc...
but at the moment i have NO TIME:( but i promise that i go as soon as possible.... to take some :eek::eek::eek::eek: pics!!!
