Has anyone who ran a thicker headgasket had problems with their profile gasket blowing? ( http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=AF93&mospid=47305&btnr=11_0156&hg=11&fg=10 ) part number 10... mine failed on the backside of the opening for the thermostat. Since it is sealed between the head and the cover, if you use a thicker headgasket and raise the head up it might not hold up as well and I completly overlooked this when i put my gasket on. I havn't been able to find any information on it so I was just wondering what everyone elses experiences were with this.

i completly rebuilt my engine and put a stainless steel headgasket in, ever since i have not been able to stop oil leaking from that area.

i have pulled down the motor a second time to put some silicon there to maybe stop it but recently it started leaking again.

its not a massive leak, just very very annoying since i rebuilt it

wow thats weird...but good to know since im doing a thicker hg so maybe i can address that problem when i rebuild

Sounds like a piece of sheet aluminum cut to fit would do the job. Link to 12" X 12" sheets for $5-$10. I buy little stuff from them, most recently plate for caliper brackets.
