So im chaing my oil, i drained it and i went to tighten the drain bolt back in, as im tightening it up the bolt snaps right at the head.

This bolt i bought when doing my last oil change. I never had this happen before with reused bolts on my previous cars.

Now, does this mean i need a new lower oil pan? This is really frustrating.

Has this happened to anyone before?

I would just drill a hole in it and back it out...

true. im just afraid that the thread is messed up now, and would leak with a new drain bolt.

you can weld on it another bolt, and screw it out.

I did this when I over torqued my bolt . I used an easy out to get the broken bolt out, then got another bolt from the hardware store to temporarily use while I ordered the correct bolt .
My original bolt was hollow.
I think these bolts are made this way so you can't over tighten them and strip the pan threads . Am I right?
I think the correct torque is 18 ft.lbs.
