no you would have to remove the chain. You should probably try to get a look at 6 and we can tell you if its been replaced before

i dont have a picture or a drawing... but it is quit simpel. it is a specialy made screw (no spring inside) that replace nr.17. with this screw, you adjust nr.14. and then you lock the hole thing with another small screw on the side of the new nr.17 so the screw cant turn out anymore.

what about just taking the existing cap, drilling and tapping a hole in the center of it, then use a threaded rod (a wheel stud seems like it would be about the right length and most of them have holes for a hex wrench) then use a nut on that to tighten against the cap so the rod doesnt move. I dunno how all this would affect oil pressure though

the piece i am telling, nr.19 and nr.17 ar one piece. so you can screw it in and out and then you can tighten it with the red screw

The tensioner is oil sprayer too, so there should be oil channel to spray the oil on the chain. Do not forget that nickmpower..

Remember, that is a race car that is checked over regularly, not just gas added and oil changed every now and again.

i have only seen this solution on regularly checked engines and cars, such as racecars or special street cars.

hey frankie: my daily driven car has 240000km on the clock. the timing chain and all the sprockets are like new!!also all the guides like nr 14 and nr 6. !!! no need to be replaced. on this chain is no force (it should not....), like on a bicycle, it only turns around!! i watched your video and i think if you have to pull with such a lot of force to move it about 4-5mm then everything its ok.
if you want to change nr.6 you have to remove the chain, because nr.6 goes behind the chain.. there is no other possibility. for the rest you dont have to remove the chain.
QUESTION: does the noise disappear after a certain time? when the engine and the oil gets warm? what about the hydraulic valve lifters?
sheepdog already say it.. the tensioner fills with oil when it is warm, same the lifters!
