So I am aware that you can machine the m20 flywheel so you don't have to use the spacer off teh m42 flywheel. I just got my clutch+flywheel+pressure plate in and I'm wondering if anyone have a picture of where you machine the m20 flywheel. and is there anything you need to do if you machine the flywheel to compensate for the removed material?

So for some lame reason, I can't upload the pics. In any case, the area closest to the center of the flywheel needs to be machined to make room for the bolts that hold the rear seal on. PM me and I'll e-mail the pics if you need them.

I don't have a picture right off (there's one posted on the forum here somewhere that compares the two flywheels) but the basic idea is just to shave off the lip on the engine side of the flywheel. It should be shaved down so that it's just thick enough for the gear ring. From there you can shave down the interior to cut some weight.

Shaving the flywheel and not using the spacer changes the distance from the engine to flywheel face and also the flywheel space to throw out bearing assembly. How does this impact the starter and throw out bearing aspects of the swap?

i need to replace my clutch and i want to know if i need to remove the exhaust or can i drop the transmission right by it

you don't need top drop the whole exhaust but you need to unbolt the exhaust from the headers and move it out of the way. The back can stay attached.

Back on topic, does anyone know how much exactly needs to be machined off? And what do you have to do to compensate for the material machined off?
