COP Conversion Brackets
« Reply #75 on: March 23, 2008, 04:21:56 PM »
When is the next production run for the bracket and hardware kits?

I had an oil leak in the number 2 "hole" and oils soaked the plug wire and instead of new plug wires and such, might as well convert.

The shorted plug almost ruined a good day of auto crossing but fortunately we took along the M3 just in case we broke the track car.

Thanks, Steve

I have more ready to ship, send me a PM if you are ready to buy, or post here if you have any questions.

I will ship to the UK, and I'll check on a price ASAP

Did I see a post that there was a choice of finish, polished or brushed?

Thanks, Steve

Yes, for an extra $10 I will polish or brush the plates.  This will likely delay the shipping one business day, as I do not keep the polished brushed ones on hand.

so to make sure i understand right:
any M54 coils will work, i do not need to modify the harness and its just a matter of finding which connector goes to which coil ?
i've been experiencing some sporadic misfires / very rough idle that i believe is a spark issue... time for a COP conversion i guess!
i've sent you a PM
thanks
Alex

the stock coils are marked (1,2,3,4)  so it is really straightforward, PM replied

I post this in the other COP thread but i think i'll post it in here just incase no one sees it in the other thread.

Will the COP bracket and the M54 coils work for the E36 M42? I didn't see anyone with an E36 saying anything yet (unless i missed it) Because I've been trying to find some cheap coils because the car hasn't moved for a year just because the coils died lol (and now I'm ready to drive her again) If they do will because I'll be sure to get them this Thursday.
Edit: Also if they do fit you'll just have to drill where the holes are at to be able to screw in the hardware that comes with the bracket? (just making sure)

PM's replied to

Yes, it will work on the e36, and you do not have to drill anything

I'm gonna be interested in a COP bracket kit in the next few weeks.

Would it be the same price if I requested one without the arm for the cables to zip tie to?  If so, what would the cost be for a bracket, mounting hardware, and shipping to 94705?

Also, for anyone who needs M54 coils, KO Performance carries them for $22.67 new.  If you order an oil filter and some oil from them at the same time, the order will probably be big enough to qualify for free shipping too.

would these be the correct ones?

Why would you buy them for $52.06?

Go to http://www.koperformance.com and find the spark coils for a 2001 BMW 330i, they are only $22.26 there.

Thanks for the tip; the picture that comes up does not look like the right coil...  any thoughts?

Damn, you are right.  Guess it's a little bit of a glitch with KO performance since they really should not show up for a 2001 330i.  It appears that cars produced after 08/2002 use different coils than what is commonly used for the COP conversion.  The newer coils do not appear to have the mounting holes.

The correct coils are a little over $48.  Sorry for the false information.  On the positive side, 4 coils for $48 from KO Performance would probably get your free shipping.
