M42 vacuum lines??????????????
« on: August 07, 2007, 10:13:33 PM »
hey need some help redoing all of them some were not in the right spot some clogged some cracked, all from previous owner. This is the problem, on the bottom of the air intake pipe from the filter box to the TB there are 2 90deg elbows i know where one goes but not the seconded one. What goes on this elbow in the pic and what does it come from?

There should be a line coming from the front of the valve cover.

IIRC there is only 1 hose running to the bottom of the breather elbow. There should be a plug installed in the hole you are showing, not an elbow. The hose from the valve cover runs to the throttle body, and the idle air hose runs to the breather elbow.

The 90 degree elbow is supposed to be there. It connects to the hose coming off the left front of the valve cover.

That is the diagram for your cooling hoses. There is only 1 hose connected to the breather elbow. It is the idle air hose. It is not shown on this diagram. The hose from the front of the valve cover goes to the throttle body.

He is right. I was trying to point out that all the leaking vacuum hoses connect to the cooling system in one way or another and its impossible to figure out where everything goes until you take apart your cooling system.

You are missing the plug that goes into the inboard hole. Only one plastic elbow is needed. It is connected to the last hose that is in the series of hoses that originates from the idle control valve. I think there are only 2 hoses in series that run from the idle air valve to the intake hose. D. Clay's drawing is exactly correct, although it does not show the plug on the intake boot. I have an extra if you need it.

Plug the boot. Even though there are 2 ports, you only use one along with the 90 degree elbow to point it the right way towards the ICV hose.
