Got a nutty problem that I need help with...

While working on a head gasket swap, along with all the other gaskets etc,  I managed to drop the plastic cap from a tube of gasket sealant (the cap is the same size and shape as what you would find on a tube of toothpaste) directly into the lower timing chain cover.  It is now down underneath the lower timing chain sprocket.  I know, I know --- don't ask me how - it was an unfortunate miracle

To get it out, I need to either loosen or remove the lower timing chain cover.  If all I need to do is make some ROOM, that would be better.

Do I have to remove the cover?

Can I just back out the bolts a little bit, so I can get something in there to grab the cap or chase the cap out?

Do you think I can do that without taking the crank pulley off?

Thanks for the help!

I'm afraid that You'll have to pull the lower cover...

BEWARE - i didn't do it in very simillar situation... It caused braking the chain, when that foreign body came between teeth and the chain...

The sooner, the better ;)

560 km in 3 hours and 5 minutes completely legal!!!                  I love german highroads!!!

So do I have to remove the crank pulley, then... ?

And what did you drop in the motor?

I did drop some plastic piece about 1 cm x 1 cm so i didn't bother to take it out...

Crank needs to be clear to remove down cover... I'm sorry.... But once loosen it will be easy to work with :)
