Sooo I got in to the Audi Academy...
« on: May 24, 2007, 10:22:06 PM »
And I'm really really really nervous... BMW STEP wouldn't take me due to the lack of "real life" experience in a shop, so I figured the next best thing would be Audi, and no shit, I actually got in!! I'm an average student, but I'm very ambitious :) I'll probly be the only guy driving a bimmer to an audi school but who gives a damn,, I wouldn't give up my m42 for ANYTHING,, if worst comes to worst, i'll buy an S4 as a daily driver and finally do what I wanna do to my iS :D Just thought I'd share the good news,, I'm damn excited.. now if I can just pass this drug test.........

Congrats. At least you'll be able to find a job more easily when you get out considering the poor reliability track record of Audi/VW's.

Nope, you can score the 1.8t with front wheel drive only.

The base model came like that.

How difficult was it to get into the Audi Academy?

What steps did you take before this, that got you where you're at now?

I'm asking because I'm seriously thinking about going into the field.

Had to graduate a 2 year automotive program with a 98% attendance record, and a minimum 3.2gpa.. It was a bitch to be honest, but well worth it.. Lots of faxing, coordinating, faxing, getting records, staying good and clean, and faxing....  Contact the custom training group,, they take care of bmw step, audi academy, mercedes elite, volvo safe, and volkswagon.. Check out http://www.isctg.com/ for more info!!

I hear good Audi master mechanics make upwards of 150k a year, so that gives me some incentive!! Thanks for the support guys :) Like I said, i'll still be around because it would take a miracle for me to get rid of my M42,, its by far my favorite car I've ever driven to date, and I'm sure most of us feel the same way!!

Congrats.
Id like to get into one of the programs after im done at UTI(starting in the next year or so).  Ill probably go into STEP if I can get in but if not Ill do M-Benz Elite. Im pretty much pre certified to get into Elite according to the recruiter(Ive worked at Baltimores Best Benz repair shop since I was 14). So that helps plus ill have a job there when I get out.  But my boss wants me to try and get into STEP. He wants a Bmw certified tech. But id still rather do Audi than Benz they just never did anything for me?

LOL yeah, you're a shoe in for STEP if you have experience around german cars for sure.. If not, he's right about mercedes because I think it's about the same deal :)

more like 70k upwards toping out at 90k if you are very lucky and know your shit!.....this is also if you live in a big city, i know this because i used to be an audi/vw tech. our master tech was making 67k at the time, which is pretty good for a tech if you ask me.

i dont know where people are learning of techs making more than 100k?

ps, get used to doing 8 hour timing belt jobs:) , the whole front end has to be removed, oh and the V6 twin turbos go bad at 60k and the motor has to be removed......it pays good if your making flat rate W/ bonuses:) . just my 2 pennies.
