It depends what rate you choose. I don't know up to what rate the Koni SAs can take but they might need to be revalved if you go too stiff. I know you can get Bilsteins revalved for something like 50$ a shock...which is cheaper then getting the J-Stock shocks from Turner which are valved for springs up to 800lbs.
I have run OTS Konis with up to 800# in the rear.
People have run OTS Bilsteins with the same rate.
If you're not competing and attending track events up the wazoo they can work. However, all disclaimers apply as road conditions, perception of "harsh ride", understanding of the word "trade off" etc all vary across the board

A J-stock kit is purposely built for that class so it's not always going to allow you to apply friendly economics into the intended purchase equation.
