I tapped mine into the block, was very easy to do and is definatly above the
oil level. Only thing is that i had the motor pulled apart when i did this.

the copper tube has been since changed to one long peice of hose because
it used to leak a little.

PERFECT POWER SMT-7 is already connected and waiting...
i will use smt-7 fuel managment , boost control , and timing control , shift light for start... i thing i will be ok with that...

to the subject now , i have measured the oil pan , and the oil level is a litle bit higher than the oil pan... ( m42 with filter gets 4.8 liter oil ) ...

i had already seen the picture of your engine ( bar73k ) and i thought to go to the block but the spot you picked up is not straight , it is a litle bit curve , and the mechanik said that it will leak oil so i did not use your way...

then i thought the engine cap ( valve cover ) but there is no place to get the oil return...

thats why i am comfused... so if anyone else has an idea where to put the oil  return please make a suggestion...

As long as its drains down below the turbo and strait as possible you should be fine, I've never heard of it needing to be above the oil level, have a bung welded to the pan and use a quality a/n fitting. Having the feed line as close to the pump as possible helps with flow as well, but on the m42 thats not an easy task.

Tap the block as close to the front of the engine and low as possible,
or wherever your turbo is mounted in bar73k´s picture you can see that you could route the line between the compressor and engine mount.
That would make it very straight
