ECU Plug
« on: February 28, 2007, 11:38:59 AM »
I was wondering if the m42 has the same ecu plug as say a m20?  I have a broken 87' 325is ecu and I want to wire the MS into the factory harness so a plug would be nice.  The 325 ecu is at home in gboro so I can't look at it but maybe one of you guys knows?

i can send you my cooked m42 ecu for comparison, along with that antenna if you want.

no extra charge.

*edit

lol just read it twice over, you need a plug for comparison or would the actual ecu be good enough to compare?

well I have a broken 325 ecu but I know a m42 one would work ;)

I can compare the 325 one to mine when I get home sat but if you don't want that broken ecu I'll take it. But you may want it if you go MS later I guess.

if nothing else a pic of the plug would be cool :)

Just a suggestion, but BMW sells break out boxes for diagnosis.  Have male and female plugs on the part.  Probably costs about 100 bucks to get one though.
