As promised I´m the best, ;)

I installed the SMT unit along with the wb controller, no sensor in the exhaust yet, but I did connect the MAP sensor and TPS to the SMT unit and WB unit,
Also I connected the MAP sensor into the SMT as a MAP signal and a analog signal, thus beeing able to fiddle with it ,
I connected the AFM signal in as temprature signal but only to monitor the voltage on the graph, I then mod the MAP signal until the AFM signal and MAP signal are identical, then I remove the AFM signal from the ECU and tap in the modded MAP sensor signal into the ECU

I will have to make up a housing for the temp sensor and a resistance for the old AFM circuit, but more on that later,

I noticed I had about 14-15psi vacuum and not so good idle,
I advanced the ignition 10degs on a couple of spots and now
no more hesitation of idle and idle is alot better and vacuum is about 17psi

I´m about 85% way there to a ignition controlled and fuel by MAP sensor controller M42,,

I didn´t solder the wires as I wanted to make sure it all worked ,
Also I need to reroute them to make it look better,

I was VERY pleases with the ignition controll as it´s always been a hassle on other cars I have put SMT units on,

I think it might take me about a week of real hard monitoring to get the MAP output configured for replacement of the AFM signal,

I´m very happy :)

95% way there,

today I and Stefán went on a drive ,, we where able to map out the MAP output to almost simulate the AFM signal identically.

idle is done,
most of lower part throttle, WOT almost, I will have to do some datalogging to finish this up,

then it´s time to simulate the presence of the AFM for the ECU and cut the MAP output signal into the ECU I will have to install the air temp sensor into the intake path also, this is probably the most problem

, I will have installed a Wideband sensor when I do that, to be able to fine tune and make things work better,

NOTE : I was able to monitor the AFM signal, and at about 4-4,5k the signal goes wobbly, probably the harmonics of the intake messing with the flow,

Here is a text file with the Wideband AFR measurements I just did,
http://www.gstuning.net/files/files/m42stuff/m42brakes_on.txt

This is WOT readings.

So you can see that there is some room to manipulate to go a little
richer.

Today might be the day I move over to the MAP signal,
I will not be able to remove the AFM just yet as I haven´t gotten myself a replacement Air temp sensor and don´t want to ruin this fine AFM,

I also am planning on hitting the 1/4 mile tonigh, so news tomorrow

Hey, not really, I´ve been staying away from this forum to keep me away from the M42 :) , as I need to keep my mind on these M30 swaps I´ve been doing

The engine now sits in my garage and the checkerd interior I have
also the rear end, and front end,

I had the car tossed as it was in the way and dying on me,
I have since picked up another car, a 316i 4door weinrot,
I will build this into the winter daily when I finish a 333i I´m starting to build

I´m really tempted at finishing the map swap , It was all ready , just had to unplug the maf and install a IAT sensor and wire it back,

Also the car has a tow hook :)
I love those tow hooks, they make the car so versatile.

pics later,

Well I´m on my way back in the sattle of a M42,
on my way are headbolts and a top gasket set,
so when that is done the engine is ready for it´s new house

a 4door veinrot e30 with a tow hook..

I´ll post pics as things take shape,

I´m going to use the wideband and proablably SMT6 again,
I really am going to run without a afm to try and see if there are gains to be had with fuel and ignition control + no afm.

ohh a 3,91 IX viscous LSD ,,
and yea pics as things develop
