In America probably, they never got the m40 engine.
So every 318i was a 318is minus suspension.

Hope this helps

I'm gonna ask my question here because it is more or less about the same.
Is the part after the header available without catalytic converter?
Just the piping with the flanges and thread for the o² sensor.
There aren't emission regulations over here and my catalytic converter was hollowed
out by the previous owner which makes a terrible noise now. Or
are there other options to smoothen the noise? ;D

Ill buy that old pipe if you find that pipe without cat...., you should have a resonance box fitted in between the cat and end muffler, its like an extra muffler. Maybe the previous owner also fitted a new end muffler and from what i read sound horrible

The third part of the exhaust is still ok. It has the resonance muffler and end muffler which is stock like in the second picture.
But it's the pipe between the header and resonance muffler which is not ok  :(
The cat converter has been cut open and welded again. So i think the ceramic meterial has been removed
to create better flow...But it makes such a terrible clattering, resonating sound when i rev.

I would cut open again that cat and see if there are any loose metals flapping about when you rev it, could cause that sound. Again i dont know where you are lokated but ill happyly take any spare exhaust parts you might want to get ride of. Im currently cutting and welding a 318ti e36 exhaust and its a pita!

I'm living in Belgium. I can cut open the cat again but i'm not a good welder  :-\ The pipe on the ebay-advert also isn't plug and play  :(
Any other suggestions?  :D
