HR oe sports; what shocks to match?
« on: March 05, 2014, 09:25:36 PM »
I have a set of H&R oe sports for my 318is, looking for recommendations/opinions on what shocks would be the best match for these.

Hard to say without more knowledge of your setup.

On my E30 I found the Koni Sport from Ground Control didn't match up well with H&R OE Sport Springs, I since changed to IE Stage III springs and kept the Koni's.

Popular opinion is the Bilstein Sport works well on E30 and E36 with mild suspension upgrades, they are a little less expensive and don't require tuning or strut modifications.

I just placed an order for Bilstein sports. Turner is having a 10% off sale so I went ahead and pulled the trigger.

Nice! I think it's a great strut with an IE3, H&R Sport/Race spring, or similar (I have Dinan springs).  I had adjustable konis at one point, the bilies are cheaper and just as good in my opinion.

H&R Sports, and Billies Sports is a good combo in my opinion.  When my KYBs wear out in my 318i I'll spring for just Billies HDs with stock springs.

I just ordered Koni SA from Bavauto. I've seen/heard of too many blown Bilsteins over the years (including my current blown sports).
Pi is apparently the multiplier for your engine swap budget as well.
