Anyone want a 2.3 l m42

I saw this and thought that we might discuss it.
It would probably have a stroke in the order of 96-98 mm with 86.5 mm pistons.
So out of square, but could be fun at 2.3 l
Made by hartge though, never seen it before.

So it could have the same rods as the 1.8 l m42?

I actually would like the info on the 2.1.
Also what are the rod length on the 2 models did they put a metal plate between both models?
2 head gaskets yuk!
I saw a 2.3 for sale they only wanted 5k.
There would be some disadvantages of having such a massive stroke though?

Here are the 2.1 specs. I'm not sure what length rods they used. That could also be dependent on what type of piston they used.

Not sure if anyone is interested but while in Germany last summer and poking around I came across two pair of the Hartge 2.3L valve cover emblems.  I swooped them up for an arm and a leg to turn them around and sell them here in the US.  If any of you go through with this engine build, which would be a kick in the pants, lemme know if you want the final Hartge touch on your valve covers!

One has a protective tape on it, the other is missing the protective tape, and all are mint.

If you live in USA I'm starting to think it's cheaper to do a M5x swap than build a 2 liter M42.

You would get really close with 86 mm pistons and m44 crankshaft though, both readily available!

On closer inspection of your photos i see that they have bored the block to 87 mm and sleeved it!

There would have to disadvantages to having such a long stroke though? Would they use bmw oem parts for piston and rod?

I have no idea how Hartge made those engines. Knowing them they used all there own parts.LOL
