Congrats on the garage (house). Now you can enjoy debt slavery like me any so many others! Houses are at least as much work as our cars, but luckily tolerances are measured in centimeters instead of microns, and the paint finish requirements are a hell of a lot looser too haha. How is the lighting situation in your garage? Mine is about 40m^2 (400ft^2) with joists at 3m height and I built up a SICK lighting system for a pretty reasonable price doing my own wiring (no permits, but it is all done to-code). I can make some recommendations if you need them. You just can't have too much light when you are working on a project.

Thanks bmwman91 - debt slavery is right - just got back from the bank,  exactly DOUBLE my present mortgage payment and twice as long... :'(  BUT I also painted the entire garage today, brilliant white and it looks awesome!! Tomorrow I expoxy paint the floor grey. If Saturday is nice I'll be moving the car over - so psyched about that!! Plus I got something cool in the works that I'll hopefully be sharing soon... :-)

Lighting-wise I've got 4 big neons with sockets for 2 standard bulbs in each so I will be good. Im also gonna put 6 window inserts into the 2 garage doors so there will be lots of natural light...

And then Thursday-Friday off to work - nice, I'll finally be able to rest!!!

Darky - the engine is already at the new house, it spent the winter there.

Jay-Vee - thanks, there will be lots more to come...

 ;)

Woułdn't have been able to do it myself that's for sure! They are my son, brother, best bud and me. The Ford is my dad's. Worked great. I've been busy in the new garage, its been painted white, floor painted armor grey. Shelves have been put up and I've built a work bench from scrap cabinetry which looks good. Ive got the neons to put in and a tool chest to buy. But im out in California right now working, what a waste of time with so much to do!

Well the big move is all done with.

Yesterday I was tooling in my new neighbour's garage while he was conveniently at work and came across this:



WOW! Amazing the things one can find whilst burglarizing one's neighbours..  :P

Figuring he wouldn't miss it I dragged it over to my place...

Now I stated before I have never welded but like all things in this project to date IGNORANCE is not an obstacle!

I went to the local welder and bought this:



I figured since my welding experience totals ZERO I would start where it wouldn't show "if" I messed up... Logical place being the footwells...













So out with the grinder nice and early next morning, the new neighbours must have appreciated that....  ;)





Like a fat girl in a tight shirt: not so pretty...  :-X







That left hand corner was really bad. I have to be honest and say I was pretty scared.



Now, how do I turn this welder on......  :o

Now kindergarten was my highest academic achieving year and its paid off here:

Find some card board:



Make a template:



Cut it out: (you still with me?)



Transfer it:



Double check (this part is seriously easy to skip...)



Take a picture with a pencil so it looks like you know what you're doing..



Cut template out then try bending it..



Fit...



Fit again... (AKA: whack the living sh*t out of it with a hammer)



Weld!! (Sincere apologies to those of you who know how to weld..)



There you have it! My first ever welds ever! Ever!  :P
Pretty damn challenging actually.. now to tackle the left hand corner which is gonna be a real $#%&!

Had to put out a small fire caused by grease and stupidity but soldiered on...



As some of you have noticed Im tack welding - Ive tried to do a continuous run but its a little beyond me right now (READ: Cant F%^$# do it!)

I'm by no means a welding expert, but my neighbor taught me to repair panels in the exact way you are doing it. Looks good to me.
